Would you like a castle to call home? The famous fortress linked with Prince Vlad the Impaler, who inspired Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, is now on the market by it’s heir, Archduke Dominic fon Habsburg, who grew up in the castle but now lives in NY state.
Built in 1212, the landmark houses a museum filled with Romanian tapestries and sits on more ten 20 lush acres. Could a Dracula – themed park be in the future? “I would say now,” says Michael Gardner of Baytree Capital, which represents the sale. “A Dracula’s restaurant, may be.”
“Then a dog began to howl somewhere in a farmhouse far down the road, a long, agonized wailing, as if from fear. The sound was taken up by another dog, and then another and another, till, borne on the wind which now sighed softly through the Pass, a wild howling began, which seemed to come from all over the country, as far as the imagination could grasp it through the gloom of the night.”
